Coventry City manager Aidy Boothroyd has reacted with shock and bewilderment at the claims by Leeds United chairman Ken Bates that he is looking for a way out of Coventry City.

Bates has never shrunk away from controversy and has always had something to say about football, even if it is untrue apparently. Bates claimed in the paper that  "Ray Ranson has made an investment and it's gone wrong. I also hear Aidy Boothroyd apparently wants to leave."

When asked about the claims made by Bates in Saturday's Daily Mail after watching his side beat Portsmouth, Boothroyd reacted with shock.

"You've shocked me with that one. I've never heard anything like that before, it's mad." said Boothroyd to the CT.

"Why would I do that? I've only just got here so I've absolutely no idea where that's come from and there's no substance to it. I'm thrilled with my life here at the moment; I couldn't be happier."

" I've been welcomed so well by everyone and I have a fantastic relationship with Ray Ranson, I've never known a chairman work as hard to bring in players and everything is set up, I think, to have a successful season.

"Ken's a character and he's good for football as long as he writes about Leeds and not me and Coventry. That wine in Monaco is fabulous isn't it? I'm sure if you talk to him in the morning you'll get a different answer."
