Believe What You Want Over Best Fee

It is now becoming a case of believing what you want to believe the fee Newcastle paid for Leon Best actually was.

Reports on Tyneside have the deal at £500k whilst reports in the Coventry Telegraph are claiming anything up to £2m after yesterday's reports of a 'minimal bid'.

Both Newcastle United and Coventry City, want to look to their supporters as having got the best deal possible and clubs, all over the world, are adept at using newspapers who rely on news from football clubs to sell papers to tip the balance in their favour.

The 'undisclosed fee' is not a new thing. Neither, is it anything illegal or shady. In fact, it is written in FA rules that fees between clubs are private and confidental.

Supporters groups like the Football Supporters Federation are looking to have this loophole closed but against opposition from clubs who can use it to their advantage, it is unlikely to happen.

So when a transfer deal occurs, believe what you want to believe, as the chances are, you are unlikely to find out the truth of how much City paid or sold a player for.
