Bassett Less England Beat Colombia

England beat Colombia in a Women's World Cup Group F match in Canada to book their place in the next round.

Mark Sampson dropped former Coventry City Ladies defender Laura Bassett to the bench for this game in the Olympic Stadium in Montreal and his side took the lead in the 15th minute through Karen Carney and then added a second with a 37th minute Fara Williams penalty.

Colombia pulled a goal back in second half stoppage time through Andrade.but a 2-1 win was enough for England to go through along with France who beat Mexico 5-0 and Colombia in third place.

England will now face Norway in the last sixteen.
