Arena Station Cock-Up

Consultants employed by Coventry City Council to work out if a train serving the Arena would be profitable made a massive error in their assumptions.

The consultants who have not been named based their costings on a train an hour running between Coventry and Nuneaton and not stopping at the Arena if there were matches or events on. It is believed that longer training running more often would be too expensive to run.

This information was sent to the Strategic Rail Authority who wrote back to Council Development Director John McGuigan "saying they did not favour a line which did not serve the Arena's big events."

As yet, there has been no apology from the Council for this mistake and it is hoped that the Council will now put in every effort to ensuring, that a train service which adequately serves the Arena on match days and caters for the needs of locals the rest of the week, happens.
