Despite fears about an increase in crime, traffic and noise, a gaming licence has been awarded to the Isle Of Capri to open a casino at the new Arena.

The licence was granted under the Gaming Act of 1968 and the casino will open at the end of 2006. One local resident told Covsupport: "In this city, those who have money and influence always get their way, so it's no surprise that this licence has been granted.

"I can't see many local people using it especially when there are other casinos already in Coventry. "We have all seen the Ocean Eleven film and we don't want something run like that on our door step."

Meanwhile, Tescos, thanks to stores like the one at the Arena complex have announced a profit over of £2 billion.
