Applause Applauded

The decision to have a minute's applause rather than a minute's silence in memory of George Best who died in a London hospital on Friday before City's game with Norwich yesterday and elsewhere around the country has been applauded by supporters.

Common on the continent, this way of applauding someone who has died is seen as a celebration of a life rather than the mourning for them and it is hoped that all clubs will use this method in future.
