Adams On Doyle Contract Talks

Micky Adams has been speaking about the contract talks the club have had with Michael Doyle.

Adams who has left the actual dealing of agents to Ken Sharp told the CET: "I've stated all along that I want to keep Michael Doyle at the football club. "He's at that age now where he's been a regular in the team for the last two seasons and he's progressing nicely.

"There are aspects of his game that we would like to improve, namely his goalscoring record, but in terms of his energy there is none better in the league.

"Our finance director is in talks with his agent and those talks have gone very very well and I am hopeful that there will be some news for you shortly. "If anyone deserves a new contract it is people like him. I don't remember him having too many days off with injuries and he is a wholehearted player who can pass the ball, gets about the pitch and has a fearsome tackle at times.

"He's a moody little so and so as well so I'm not going to paint a picture that everything is rosy in the garden because he has his moments, but he gives his all on a Saturday and that's what you need."

"I'm sure a lot of people will be aware that he is available this summer and that's a problem we need to address at this club. "If we are going to keep our better players we can't afford to leave it until the last minute to talk to them."
