Adams Foiled In Keeper Bid

Micky Adams is expected to use the emergency loan system to obtain a goalkeeping understudy for Andy Marshall. The City boss had tried to take Austrian keeper Michael Gspuring on a short term loan however, his club FC Superfund found this unacceptable and rejected City's bid.

Micky Adams said: "His club say they will only do a deal which sees him move on a permanent contract. "Unfortunately we don't know him very well and have seen very little of him so we are not prepared to take a chance.

"Although we have been taking a risk by not having a keeper on the bench I am not going to take just anyone for the sake of it and I will now be looking to use the emergency loan system which means we can take someone after today's transfer deadline."

The City boss does have two other keepers at the club in Cameron Belford and Neil Collett with Belford being used as a warm-up man in recent matches.

Club captain Stephen Hughes would take over in goal if anything was to happen to Marshall during a match where City did not have a substitute keeper on the bench.
