A Long Way To Go Before Full Trust Can Be Given

There seems to be a bit of a stalemate at Coventry City at the moment, with fans waiting for "Decent New Signings" whilst the club await "Decent Season Ticket Sales" prior to making signings!

It is an impasse that needs to be broken to allow CCFC to have a sustainable, long term future. The owners of the club have bought about this impasse, due to their mishandling of OUR club in recent years, so in my view, it is them that need to blink first, in an effort to create renewed interest and regain some trust, from the (long suffering) fans.

Things have changed over the years, with Bob Brolly's CWR show being a "must listen" for all things Coventry City a few years ago, when the club were open and transparent about their hopes and plans, with fans able to keep abreast of the goings on at OUR Club. Those days are long gone now, (more's the pity) and has made the club seem more distant than ever, in my opinion.

I quite like Steve Waggott, and firmly believe he has the best interest of the football club at heart, he has a decent football pedigree, and is certainly an improvement on the previous incumbent, who seemed a self serving attention seeker. But there is a long way to go, before full trust will be given to him and his employers. They have shown scant interest in what the fans wanted up to now, so it is easy to see why those same fans are reluctant to part with their hard earned income, when it comes to football matters of the Sky Blue variety, even though we are back "Home".

Waggott needs to provide Tony Mowbray the funds to bring in some much needed talent, he needs to back him and his decisions fully, if, as he stated, he wants to move the club forward. Mowbray has a wonderful pedigree and bags of experience, so needs to be given the full backing of the owners, in order to build a team in his image.

The fans have shown they are still there, evidenced by the number who turned out for our "Return Home" they just need to be shown evidence from the owners, that they are prepared to gamble their own money, prior to the fans gambling their's.

Then, and only then, will we see a return of the fans to The Ricoh and a brighter future for all concerned.
