Sky Blues On The Road- Ipswich Town

In a week where the proposed scrapping of the Coventry City’s historic and well respected club badge has caused much fury with a general condemnation by the over whelming majority of City supporters, the Sky Blues take a trip down the A14 to play league leaders Ipswich Town.

Caretaker boss Adrian Heath who knows his job prospects will increase even further if he can guide the team to their second “shock” victory in seven days, will be with out Bristol City target Louis Carey.

The right back who has not figured highly in popularity amongst City supporters is suspended after picking up five bookings. In could come Andy Whing who has recovered from a hernia operation and played the whole of the reserves game against Leicester City on Tuesday night.

An ankle injury keeps Stuart Giddings out and Steve Staunton will again deputise. The same injury was also picked up by Neil Wood in training and the Manchester United cast off is rated as doubtful.

Dele Adebola is also unlikely to play, so Stern John and Gary McSheffrey are likely to again lead the attack.

Ipswich Town have said they will not be under-estimating the Sky Blues despite their lowly position in the league table and have Ian Westlake suspended.

Central defender Richard Naylor has overcome a groin injury and is expected to replace Scott Mitchell. Up front for the Tractor Boys against the former Tractor makers again will be Darren Bent and Shefki Kuqi.

City supporters heading to the game are asked to support the peaceful protest against the badge by means of a flyer which will be distributed outside the visitors entrance at Portman Road by holding it aloft at 2.55pm.

They should also note that the police and stewards employ a heavy handed policy of forcing supporters to sit down at all times.

There are a number of problems on the A14 and supporters are advised to leave early. The club coaches are leaving at 10am

City U18’s are in action taking on Aston Villa at the Alan Higgs Centre at 11am on Saturday morning whilst Coventry City Ladies go for cup glory in the Birmingham County FA Cup with a home Quarter-Final tie against Bustleholme. Kick off at Coventry Sphinx is at 2pm.
