The last time Plymouth Argyle visited Highfield Road on August 30th 1966, The Beatles topped the charts and Harold Wilson was running the country.

Peter Reid goes into the game, knowing that his team must get a victory after the woeful performance against Leicester on Monday night and prevent further calling for his head.

He told the club website: "We work at this football club on basics," he said. "When you haven’t got the ball, work hard to try and get it and win the tackles. You’re not going to win everyone but you have to make sure you’re hard to beat and then when you’ve got the ball, pass and move it. "That’s all we do on the training pitch and we didn’t do those two basics right against Leicester City and if you don’t do that, you’re going to get beat in football matches.

"I was very, very disappointed with the performance at the Walkers Stadium, so I expect a much better display against Plymouth. I don’t like getting beat, but if the players give me everything then I can’t ask for anything more. But I just felt that Leicester worked harder than us, won more tackles and passed the ball better and that disappoints me. I’m hoping for a vast improvement."

Reid, whose side lie 20th in the table, is expected to make changes with Neil Wood likely to be dropped against a Plymouth side which won 2-0 at league leaders Wigan Athletic last weekend.

Argyle boss Bobby Williamson is likely to keep the same side with Micky Evans up front and Plymouth have sold over 1500 tickets for the game.

On Saturday morning at 11am, City U18’s play their first game at the new Alan Higgs centre at Allard Way when they take on Bristol City. Academy boss Steve Ogrizovic is expected to keep the team which drew 2-2 at Aston Villa last Saturday.

City U16’s will also be playing Bristol City with this game taking place at Ryton.

On Sunday, Coventry City Ladies take on league leaders Sunderland at Coventry Sphinx FC with kick off at 2pm whilst City Ladies Reserves play a friendly against the Great Britain Deaf Association team at Coventry University’s Westwood Heath ground at 1pm. The game is to help the British team with their preparation for the Dealympics in Melbourne, Australia next year.
