The cast of the hit 2 Tone musical ‘Three Minute Heroes’ have kept the Ska alive and formed Ruder Than U; a fresh, new, talented Ska band hailing from Coventry.
They are set to release their debut EP ‘Phat Cat’ at a two-night launch event at Ego Arts Venue on Friday & Saturday night.
With special guest Neol Davies of the Selecter and support by Letitia George from BBC’s ‘The Voice UK’, the celebrations on Friday 26th and Saturday 27th June will be quite a spectacular tie-in with the release of Ruder Than U’s four-track EP of brand new, original material.
Ruder Than U formed after the band members starred in ‘Three Minute Heroes’, the hugely successful 2 Tone musical at Coventry’s Belgrade Theatre last October.
After the show finished they knew they were on to something great and vowed to continue playing together. They had their live debut at Specialized, the Ska fundraiser festival, in Dorset last November and have gained quite a following since. They performed at this year’s Pride of Coventry & Warwickshire Awards and are also scheduled to perform at the first ever Coventry Pride festival on Sunday 28th June.
They have spent the last three months in the studio writing together, mentored by their drummer, The Selecter’s Aitch Bembridge.
Their debut EP ‘Phat Cat’, which combines classic Ska with more contemporary elements of Pop, RnB and Reggae, is released on iTunes on Saturday 27th June.
