WARWICKSHIRE CRICKET LEAGUE RESULTS
Bedworth back in the top division with a bang, winning their first 2 to go top, this week beating Highway, who themselves ran Handsworth close last year. D.Jakeman 78 and M.Plant 61 helped the home side to an impressive 257 for 6 and despite the efforts of G Thornton 46 this saw them home by a 30 run margin. They lead Kenilworth who achieved their 2nd win of the campaign too but like last week it was only a 20 pointer batting second having won the toss, as they cantered to a 7 wicket victory at Kings Heath.
Four Oaks were impressive winners in Division1 with Hamza Nadeem a new acquisition to the club taking 4 for 9 as Pakshaheen succumbed for 79 all out. Stockton followed up their win last week with a 17 point winning draw at Barby , Owen Edwards 121 making the major contribution in their 316 for 6, highest total in the Division
In division 2 no club has managed a 2 win start but 3 clubs have a win and a winning draw, Marston Green, Castle Bromwich and Standard. Castle Bromwich and Massey Ferguson were involved in a close one at the Coventry clubs ground when one of several afternoon showers denied both of the chance at a win. Castle Bromwich claimed the best of the draw batting second on duckworth lewis (only joking it was run rate) with their innings restricted to 39 overs. Marston Green took full advantage defending 168 on their own ground which would not normally be enough; they rolled over division new boys Solihull Municipal for 108. Standard would have gone top with a win having won last week but Aston Unity hung on for the losing draw to see standard have to settle for 3rd..
Elsewhere 2 of the days high scorers where in the same match as Ian Randle (Rowlands) and G Morley (Weoley Hill) both reached 126, the match ended in a draw with the rain probably saving Weoley Hill who were 9 down at the time. In the Single teams top division Newbold's Cheney took league best 7 for 25 in a match which also saw Paul Evans 102 not out for the hosts against Bridge Trust. Single team Div 3 sees the new clubs, Smetwick 4th with 299 for 9, Leek Wooton with their second win in 2 and Walmley 6s who beat Pah Shaheen 3rds all having a good week.
