The skys over Warwickshire cleared around 1 pm which allowed a few to get in a game of cricket this afternoon whilst unfortunately many did not survive the morning downpour. It was noticeable that in the 3rd XI and Single Teams competition that all but one match fell to the weather with Oakfield 3rds benefiting as Griff and Coton 3rds hosted them in division 2 East. Oakfield 16 run victors in a low scoring match , allowing Oakfield to move up to third.
In the WCL competition, even with full covered pitches and drying equipment, 3 of the 6 premier league matches fell to the weather including the leaders Aston Manor. Both Bedworth and Rugby took full advantage and the top of the premier division tonight see these 3 clubs separated by 3 points. Rugby claimed top spot chasing down a total of 122 for 9 in a match reduced to 30 overs a side, Olton having recovered from 21 for 4 then 38 for 5, Matt Ewer with 4 early wickets. Rugby made a good start to the chase and after losing Steve Ward with the score on 18 had Charlie Robards and Owen Edwards with a stand of 70 to set up a victory in the 23rd Over. A similar stand bating second this time of 88 between Lewis Peakcock and Nathan Edgar, saw Bedworth back to winning ways against Kenilworth.
Other notable results. In the battle of the Knowle’s Knowle Village benefited from the efforts of their ground staff to take 15 points whilst all others in their division where all others were rained off to open a gap at the top of division 2, and similarly Hunningham with the only match in Division 3 to survive extended their lead at the top.
Division 4 had the top to meeting at Warwick and saw Wolvey reach 192 for 9. At rear guard action by Warwick saw them avoid defeat but with Wolvey taking much the better of the match and the points they now lead division 4 at the expense of their rivals.
Division 6 saw Thimblemill thanking Standard for their efforts to play, getting to 196 all out and taking a maximum 24 points as standard closed 95 all out, Rukshan Arumiathas 6 For 47 making the league best performances list for this week
