The standout performance of the opening day of the 2014 season came at Ansley when in their first Division 3 the revitalised Dunlop club defended 128 all out with Faisel Riaz starting this season were he left off last with 7 for 8. The premier division see last year’s 2nd placed Four Oaks Saints off to a great start at Olton and West Warwicks with A Perkins 89; G Westlake 66 in an opening stand of 175 for the division high total of 233 for 5. Olton and west Warwicks slumped to 7 for 2 early on and despite contributions from Webb, Hawkins and Simpson never looked like making the target closing 113 all out. Aston Manor, relegated last day of the season made a winning start with a 2 wicket victory against Bablake in a low scoring game, 147 to 143, whilst Bedworth were the other winner in the division, another 2 wicket win in an even lower scoring game 89 to 88. Solihull Municipal, Highway, Pak Shaheen and Southam all won in division 1. This division again was not surprisingly given the conditions dominated by the ball with just 184 being the highest team score from Pak Shaheen. The match at Solihull Municipal saw 15 wickets fall for just 134 runs as the home side chased 67 for victory. A.Roslyn 3 For 12, S.Masood 6 For 36 having destroyed their visitors batting. Division 2 is good for teams called Knowle with Knowle Village and Knowle and dorridge the only winners. Both clubs batted second having put in their opponents, with Knowle and Dorridge chasing down 157 for 6 and Knowle Village 137 for 8. The standout performances N Moore 6 For 29 for Knowle and Dorridge and K Zaman 53 Not Out for Knowle Village. A mention should also be made to Massey Fergusson the only team in the division to get to 200 and a solid winning draw against Wishaw (135 for 6).
