Warwickshire County Cricket Club went down to a 32 run defeat at Nottingham.

In a match that started at 11am so that spectators, players, officials and the media could watch the England versus Germany World Cup game, Nottinghamshire thought the Trent Bridge wicket was to their advantage and after winning the toss, decided to bat first.

They had not put any runs on the board when they lost their first wicket on a glorious day when Hales was caught in the second ball bowled by Chris Woakes.

The England U19 international then turned catcher to remove Ali Brown and give a wicket to Neil Carter who followed that up with the wicket of Matt Wood who had made 15 in the sixth over.

Samit Patel and David Hussey had a fourth wicket stand of 68to take them past the 100 run mark before Patel was trapped lbw by Naqaash Tahir on his Twenty/20 debut and Hussey went for 58 caught by Barker in the 18th over.

Chris Read and Steve Mullaney were left to bat the remaining two overs. Mullaney was bowled by Maddy for eight as Notts closed on 149-6 at the end of their twenty overs.

Needing 7.5 runs an over to win, Warwicks got off to a bad start when Neil Carter was out first ball after giving Mullaney a catch off the bowling of Pattinson after a single from fellow opener Jon Trott and a wide.

Darren Maddy went for a single and then Jon Trott was out having made 15.

Jim Troughton tried to gain some foothold but from 23-3, Warwicks went to 47-4 when Tim Ambrose was out for nine.

Stratford's Jim Troughton was stumped by Read after making 23 which proved to be the highest by a Warwickshire batsman.

Rikki Clarke went for 17 including one six in the 14th over but at 70-6, Warwicks were in deep trouble.

The required run rate was getting bigger and bigger as Ant Botha, Keith Barker and Chris Woakes (17) lost their wickets.

With the penultmate ball of the game, Ian Westwood who had also made 17 was caught by Brown off the bowling of White to see Warwicks 117 all out and a defeat by 32 runs.
