Warwickshire completed their  LVD County Championship Division 1 game over Worcestershire today with a 218 run win after they bowled out a injury depleted Worcestershire side for 109 runs today.

Worcester started the day needing 292 more runs to win, but had lost three early and cheap wickets yesterday and it was doubtful if Solanki, who retired hurt on 0 would be able to play.

Worcestershire tested Solanki in the nets before the start of todays play, but as the game was far beyond their reach they decided not to risk allowing him to return to the crease.

To add to their woes Richardson was not sent in either because of a leg injury which effectively meant they were five wickets down at the start of play.

The pitch which attracted so much criticism during the first three innings, seemed to behave a little better today with a more even bounce and the Worcestershire batsmen Shaaiq Choudhry and Moeen Ali added to their scores, but then they lost three wickets in 14 balls.

Rikki Clarke secured the wicket of Shaaiq Choudhry when was given out lbw for 7 and then claimed the wicket of Moeen Ali who was caught at deep square leg by Chris Metters.

Next to fall was Gareth Andrew who hit the ball straight to to Jonathan Trott at short mid-wicket of Tahir.

Worcestershire then put up a belated resistant with a seventh wicket partnership of 44 runs between Scott, who scored 31 and Damien Wright who scored 11. Scott required treatment on the field and later had to retire hurt and Wright was caught at mid-off by Bell off the bowling of Rankin.

Shantry was not out on 4 as Richardson and Solnaki did not bat and Warwickshire won by 218 runs. The win was worth 23 points to the Bears, but with the eight point reduction they were awarded just 15 points. Worcestershire picked up 4 points. Warwickshire are likely to appeal the decision to penalise them though

The points deduction means, in effect, that Warwickshire earned 15 points from the game to Worcestershire's four, although the Bears are set to appeal.

It is thought they will raise procedural issues leading to the formation of a pitch panel.

Warwickshire were deducted 8 points for having a 'poor' pitch after an inspection yesterday, but Worcestershire director of cricket Steve Rhodes, thought that the pitch was unfit.

He said,  "Their (the panel's) opinion was that it (the pitch) was poor but my personal view is that it was unfit. I can safely say that it is probably the worst wicket I have seen in professional cricket in England. It was a farcical finish to a farcical game, played in farcical conditions."

"Ben Scott retired hurt, Vikram retired hurt and Alan Richardson was absent injured. In some ways I feel sorry for Warwickshire, but the bottom line is if you ask is that pitch fit for first-class cricket, then the answer is no.
