Warwickshire batsman Jonathan Trott scored an unbeaten 135 as England drew the first Ashes Test in Brisbane, Australia.

Trott came in after Strauss had made a century and worked dilligently with Alastair Cook who made a superb 235 not out to see England on 517 for one before they declared and set Australia 297 to win. Trott hit 19 fours in his innings of 266 balls.

This was only the second time in England's history that the top three batsmen have reached three figures in the same innings, the previous instance came through Jack Hobbs, Herbert Sutcliffe and Wally Hammond in 1924 and the stand between Cook and Trott was the ninth highest ever.

The home side were 107-1 when the captains shook hands and the match ended as a draw.
