Last updated : 15 January 2016 By CNS Sport

Team Giant-Alpecin and communications manager Geert Broekhuizen (NED) will part ways at the end of this month. Broekhuizen, who has been working for the team since 2013, was responsible for the development of Team Giant-Alpecin’s communications department and has been managing the execution of the team’s communications. Broekhuizen informed the team that he wishes to work on new opportunities and challenges in his career.

Over the past three years, the team and Broekhuizen experienced a good learning curve together in the field of modern communications and brought the team’s external communications to a higher level.

Iwan Spekenbrink (NED), CEO, said, “Thanks to Geert and his communications colleagues, Team Giant-Alpecin has set up a modern communications platform with a solid foundation. Three years ago, the team offered Geert the chance to basically start from scratch and learn along the way, and we are very appreciative of what has been achieved in this field. We are confident that Geert is ready for his next step.”

Broekhuizen is leaving the team on good terms, and the team wishes him all the best in his future endeavors. He will continue to remain involved as an external communications adviser.

Peter Reef (NED), who is already a member of the communications team, will be his successor. Reef will become the media contact as of February 1.

Team Giant-Alpecin’s communications team will be expanded in the coming period. More details will be announced soon.

Broekhuizen thanks the members of the press for their collaboration.
