Cofidis' Nacer Bouhanni is out of the Tour De France which starts at Mont-Saint-Michel tomorrow.

Bouhanni, was involved in an altercation with some drunk guests who were staying in the same hotel after the French National Championships.

Bouhanni punched one of the guests after he had a punch thrown at him and was taken to hospital for treatment. However, his initial  treatment was not up to standard and with Bouhanni unable to hold the handlebars on his bike, an operation was needed and Bouhanni was forced to withdraw from the race.

Nicholas Edet will replace him and it is expected that Geoffrey Soupe will go for the sprints.
