Sir Bradley Wiggins could only get a silver medal for England in the Commonwealth Games as Australia romped to a Games record in Glasgow.

Wiggins rode for England in the Mens 4000m Pursuit which qualified for the final against Australia. However, Australia were favourites and so it proved as the Aussies took a lead of 1.454 and then 1.59.

At the halfway stage, Australia had Davison drop off but England with Ed Clancy and Steven Burke  in the team dropped further and further behind and finished in four minutes behind the champions Australia who set a new games record of 3.54.851.
