Aston Manor took full advantage of a slip up by Bedworth and the weather interfering with several matches including the crucial fixture between Olton and West Warwick and Kenilworth this weekend. The rain put pay to over half the fixtures but Aston Manor’s fixture at home to Nuneaton survived. A 95 ball score of 91 from Thomas Cauldfield saw the home side to 131 for 3 before 3 quick wickets had them in some trouble. Imran Khan however with a siwft 56 (4 sixes, 6 fours, 27 balls) saw the home side to a very respectably 221 for 9 in a match reduced to 37 overs a side. Imran then followed up his batting exploits with an opening spell of 3 for 33 as Nuneaton struggle, 4 down for 21. Kyle Taylor and Martin Cox briefly resisted but when they went the innings drew to a swift close at 94 all out. Bedworth meanwhile were chasing 153 for 7 at Four Oakes Saints in a 35 over match. But with Thomas Holley taking 4 wickets and Russ Longhorne a further 3 they struggle to 81 for 9. Olton similarly struggled at home to Kenilworth needing 185 to win off 30, ended 125 for 8 when rain washed them out in the 23rd. Frustration for Kenilworth at the wrong end of the table who lost out on the change of a bigger points total for the win.
cricket was played elsewhere but in many divisions the rain either took out all the matches or equally affected the top teams so the divisions look similar to the start of play. The other big benefactors were Wolvey CC who went down the road to Griff and Cotton and completed a quick win knocking off the 59 to win for 0 in just 4.4 overs to go top over Walmley. Equally emphatic the match at Rowlands lasted 15.4 overs, with North Warwick 47 all out in 12.2, and Rowlands knocking these off in 19 balls.
