SuperCrit and Tour Ride set for this weekend’s Cycle Show

Saturday evening criterium and Sunday sportive take place at Birmingham’s NEC

Olympic Champion Ed Clancy will be among the riders taking on the SuperCrit at this weekend’s Cycle Show at Birmingham’s NEC.  The Rapha Condor rider headlines a 70-strong entry list that also includes teammate and Tour of Britain’s SKODA King of the Mountains winner Kristian House and Yodel Sprints Jersey Peter Williams, for the end-of-season Cycle Show spectacular.

Local interest is provided by CyclePremier – Kovert’s George Moore from Solihull and Wolverhampton’s Great Britain rider Andy Tennant of Rapha Condor, with the professional race getting underway just after 7pm on Saturday.

All six of the British UCI Continental squads who raced in The Tour of Britain are represented, with Endura Racing including Ian Bibby, Russ Downing and Jonathan McEvoy from the line-up that helped Jonathan Tiernan Locke to the IG Gold Jersey earlier this month.

Tour de France stage winner Magnus Backstedt leads Team UK Youth, while Tour of Britain 12th placed and second Brit overall Dave Clarke is a part of the Node4 – Giordana Racing team.

Eleven winners of Tour Series rounds also take to the startline, in what is sure to be an action packed hour long race on the specially designed 1.3-kilometre circuit in front of the Cycle Show’s main entrance.

Supporting the professionals will also be a Youths A&B event, getting the racing underway at 5.30pm.

The SuperCrit start line will be in use less than 12-hours later for the Cycle Show’s final event, The Tour Ride Cycle Show sportive.  Amateur cyclists have the choice of a 150-kilometre Pro Ride or a 96-kilometre Challenge Ride, starting and finishing at the NEC and heading out into the Warwickshire countryside.

Riders can enter The Tour Ride by heading to Stand K6 at the Cycle Show during Thursday, Friday or Saturday, or sign-up at The Tour Ride information desk by Hall 16’s Bike Park during the SuperCrit or ahead of the 8am Ride start on Sunday morning.
