Simon Spillak of Katusha has won the Tour De Suisse.

Thibaut Pinot was in the lead by a margin of thirty four seconds from Team Sky's Geraint Thomas going into the ninth and final stage which was a 38km time trial which started and finished in Berne.

Swiss national treasure Fabian Cancellera, whose time trialing skills have been the stuff of legends over the years, was in fine form and did not disappoint his masses of supporters when he set the early time to beat of 48.55 after William Bonnet had been the first man down the ramp at 14:46 local time.

Adriano Malori of Movistar had been quickest at the 21km checkpoint but he lost some ground in the closing stages and finished with a new second best time of 49:10.

Geraint Thomas went down the ramp needing to pull something out of the bag and two minutes later, off went Pinot.

Tom Dumoulin, who had been the first leader of this race, was fastest by eleven seconds at the 21km check point but Geraint Thomas was giving it everything and clocked in at 29:03 after 21kms.

Simon Spillak was doing his best to try and take the overall victory but Dumoulin was still fastest after 33kms by eleven seconds and he kept up the pace to finish in 48.36 and take over the stage lead.

Spillak went second with Thomas finishing in 49.12 and Pinot in 50:26 to give Tom Dumoulin the stage win, with Spillak taking the overall win ahead of a disappointed Geraint Thomas.
