Sir Chris Hoy On Flag Duty

Sir Chris Hoy who has won three gold track cycling medals will carry the Team GB flag at the opening ceremony of the London 2012 Olympic Games on Friday evening.

Team GB, which includes Tour De France winner Bradley Wiggins as well as former Coventry City players Craig Bellamy, Jack Cork and Danny Sturridge, will be the last of the 204 competing countries unveiled at the ceremony.

Hoy, who carried the Team GB flag at the Closing Ceremony at the Beijing games four years ago, said in a press statement; "I'm absolutely delighted and honoured to have been voted as the flagbearer for Team GB. To lead out your team at a home Olympics is truly a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity and one that I can't wait to experience in just a few days' time."
