Cycling governing body the UCI have outlawed riders staying in motor homes for the Tour De France and all UCI World Tour races

Richie Porte stayed in a motor home rather than in a hotel during the Giro D'Italia and there were plans for Chris Froome also of Team Sky to use a motor home for his overnight accommodation.

However, the UCI voted on a change the article 2.2.010 of the UCI Regulations on housing which is effective immediately.

The change means that the ruling, which the UCI said in a press release was changed to 'reaffirm absolute fairness between all riders',  now reads: “In all road stage races on the international calendar, the organisers must cover the subsistence expenses of the teams from the night before the start to the final day; riders must stay in the hotels provided by the organiser throughout the entire duration of the race”.

Froome was less than happy when he tweeted: " to that time I slept on the floor at the TDF.. More of that this year! Good going "
