Team Sky's Richie Porte has been fined and had time added after borrowing a wheel following a mechanical on the tenth stage of the Giro D'Italia.

Porte suffered a mechanical late in the stage and was lent a wheel by fellow Australian Simon Clarke and then paced back towards the peloton by three team mates and friend Michael Matthews of Orica GreenEdge.

As Porte and Clarke are not on the same team they have been charged with non-regulation assistance to a rider of another team with both riders having two minutes added to their race time.

They were also fined two hundred Swiss francs

Richie Porte is now in 12th place at 3:09 behind race leader Alberto Contador of Tinkoff Saxo.
