Giant Alpecin are expected not to include Marcel Kittel in their nine man team for the Tour De France on July 4th.

Kittel has only race for nineteen days this season, fell ill in the Santos Tour Down Under in Australia and has been struggling to regain the sort of form which saw him win four stages of the Tour De France in 2014.

This includes the Tour De Yorkshire, where he was forced out after less than one hundred kilometres of the opening stage.

Since then, Kittel has not featured in the sprints in the World Ports Classic, the Rund um Köln or the Ster ZLM Toer and he is expected not to be part of the team which will be unveiled in Utrecht at a press conference on Wednesday morning.
