Ninth For Sky As Omega Win World Time Trials

Team Sky finished ninth as Omega Pharma Quick Step won the first ever World Team Time Trial Championships in Limberg.

Sky included three Brits in Alex Dowsett, Ian Stannard and Geraint Thomas along with Edvald Boasson Hagen, Juan Antonio Flecha and Sergio Henao, as their six riders in a 32 team event over 53 kilometres.

Sky finished in a time of one hour, four minutes and forty nine seconds but were beaten by an Omega Pharma side which included Tony Martin (pictured below), Tom Boonen, Peter Velits, Kristof Vandewalle, Sylvain Chavanel and Niki Terpstra who finished in 1.03.17, some three seconds ahead of BMC.
