Lance Armstrong has been told to pay £6.5m by a court after losing his case against SCA Promotions.
The Texan had initially won a the case in 2006 against SCA who were ordered to pay $7.5m in bonuses to Armstrong for winning the Tour De France seven times.
However, they refused to pay due to claims of Armstrong's alleged use of banned performance enhancing products and have now won their case with Armstrong order to pay $10m by a court who found him guilty of "perjury, fraud and conspiracy"
SCA said in a press statement: "The award, which must be paid directly to SCA, is believed to be the largest award of sanctions assessed against an individual in American judicial history."
"According to the arbitrators' written ruling, the sanctions award punishes Armstrong for 'an unparalleled pageant of international perjury, fraud and conspiracy.
"SCA's dispute with Armstrong is not over.
"It has a currently pending lawsuit in Dallas state district court where it is pursuing additional claims against Lance Armstrong and Bill Stapleton (Armstrong's agent)."
