Kristoff Wins Tour Des Fjords Third Stage

Alexander Kristoff of Katusha completed a hat-trick of wins in the  has won theTour Des Fjords with victory on the third stage.

Stage three was a 166km stage from Stord to Sauda 166 km. which took the riders through through the Bømlofjordtunnelen, some 264 metres under the sea and then via Sveio, Haugesund, Vats and Vikedal to the finlsh line in Sauda.

British rider Adam Yates of Orica GreenEdge finished second in the first KOM of the day and was in a group of seventeen riders and included Howson, Impey, Meier, Valgren, Brutt, Anker Sørensen, Didier, Madrazo, Txurruka, EBH, De Greef, Minnard, Bernas and Oomen, which took a lead of a minute.

Michel Valgren took the sprint as he, Mol Cort Nielsen and Dougall broke clear with a lead of 2.30 on a forty rider group witn three groups behind them.

Valgren and Mol went away with a lead of 1.09 on the second chasing group on the road.

Valgren, the Tinkoff Saxo rider dropped Mol with just over forty kilometres to go.

Edvald Boasson-Hagen and the race leader went after Valgren but were brought back. So Gatta, Guldhammer and Txurreka tried.

They lasted until just before the flam rouge and it was Katusha who brought up Alexander Kristoff who won in 3.57.58, ahead of Darryl Impey and Edvald Boasson-Hagen. 

Alexander Kristoff continues to lead the race with a twenty second lead over Darryl Impey.
