Jan Bakelandts of AG2R wins the Gran Piemonte race in Italy.

Featuring most of the riders who rode in the Milan-Turin race including British champion Peter Kennaugh of Team Sky, this was a 185km race from San Francesco al Campo to Ciriè.

Thirteen riders were in a break which had a lead of 2.16 with seventy one kilometres raced on a wet and cold afternoon.

The gap had dropped by a minute with 75kms left and there were only seven riders including Tao Geohagen-Hart, left going into the final thirty kilometres.

Fabio Feline attacked the lead group on his own but the peloton were only thirty seconds behind.

Roosen and Brambrilla caught Feline and joined him but they too were caught and Bakelandts took the resulting sprint ahead of Matteo Trentin and Sonny Colbrelli.
