Denis Galimzyanov won the second stage of the KBC-Driedaagse De Panne Koksijde this afternoon.

Three groups of 177 riders which will be reduced to 120 for tomorrow's time trial was broken up on this 219km stage from Oudenaarde to the coastal town of Koksijde.

Arnoud Van Groen had been part of a trio which had got clear and with nine kilometres to go of final circuit around the Belgian town, he made a break for it with the peleton 48 seconds back.

It had not been a good day for Bradley Wiggins and he was off the back of the peleton which was still not making any progress on Van Groen.

The Dutchman kept going but the pace of the peleton was immense and he was caught just before the flam rouge to set up a sprint finish.

A number of riders including Graham Brown lined up but Katusha's Russian Denis Galimzyanov, who took the stage by a full bike length from Degenkolb and Peter Sagan. Brit Russel Downing was seventh.

Tomorrow, there is two stages. The first is a 111km stage around De Panne and in the afternoon, a 14.7km time trial in Tijdrit.
