Dusseldorf Agrees Bid For 2017 Tour De France

The German city of Dusseldorf has agreed a bid for the Grand Depart of the 2017 Tour De France.

According to German sports media outlet Rad-net, the Council of the North Rhine - Westphalian capital agreed on Thursday night by forty votes to thirty nine to support the plans of Mayor Thomas Geisel and to fund the event to estimated tune of six million euros.

Münster had also been interested in staging the 2017 Tour De France Grand Depart but the municipality has decided against making an financial contribution.
