British time trial champion Alex Dowsett has been selected for Tour De France duty.
The Essex rider has been named in Movistar's team for the 102nd edition of the race which starts on Saturday in Utrecht.
Dowsett will provide support when he is not having a crack at the time trial in Utrecht or the Team Time Time Trial for Nairo Quintana for whom the team has been built around and Alejandro Valverde, the new Spanish national road race champion.
Imanol Erviti, Jonathan Castroviejo, Gorka Izagirre, Jose Herrada, Italian National Road Race champion Adriano Malori and Winner Anacona make up the rest of a team which Movistar Team Principal Eusebio Unzue described as "A most balanced squad and one that brings us everything we needed in all terrains.
"Our leadership is clear: Nairo is the team's main reference on the road. However, and knowing how this race works and all the circumstances you can go through during a Tour de France, we can't rule out Alejandro staying by his side and also keeping his chances alive [which are the whole team's], until the facts show otherwise."
