Englishman Russ Downing finished fourth in the 20th G.P. Costa degli Etruschi.

The first race on Italian soil of the season was a 196km race from San Vincenzo to Donoratico.

Creel (Roth Skoda), Frapporti (Unieuro Wilier Trevigiani), Gazzara (MG KVIS Vega), Fly (Italy), Nych (Rusvelo) and Pelikan (Utensilnord ) formed the day's break.

But only Nych and Gazzara survived after good work from Bardiani, Nippo, and Lampre to bring them back.

Cunego (Nippo), Wegmann (Cult Energy) and Torres (Colombia). Gavazzi (Southeast) launched attacks in the last fifteen kilometres but the big teams ensured a sprint and it was Manuel Belletti (Southeast) who won the GP Costa degli Etruschi in a time of 4.29.28, beating Davide Vigano (Team Idea 2010) and Niccolo Bonifazio (Team Lampre Merida) and Russell Downing who now rides for Cult Energy Pro Cycling.
