FDJ's Andre Demare won the Wattenfall Classic in Hamburg, Germany this afternoon.

This annual race attracted a strong field including the likes of Peter Sagan and Tom Boonen and saw a three rider group eventually caught by Marco Pinotti (BMC),  Alexander Porsev (Katusha), Matthieu Ladagnous (FDJ), Martin Mortensen (Vacansoleil-DCM), Yaroslav Popovych (RadioShack-Nissan), Christopher Juul Jensen (Saxo Bank-Tinkoff Bank) and Matteo Bono (Lampre-ISD) with 60kms to go after Stuart Ogrady had crashed and broken his collarbone.

On the third climb of the Wausberg, they were caught and Peter Sagan tried to escape before suffering a mechanical.

Radio Shack's Ben Herman was another to attack but it came down to a bunch sprint and Demare won ahead of Andre Greipel and Giacomo Nizzolo with Team Sky's Edvald Boasson-Hagen in fifth.
