Breschel Wins Tour Of Luxembourg Third Stage

Tinkoff-Saxo's Matti Breschel made it two wins in a row with victory on the third stage of the 74th Skoda Tour Of Luxembourg.

Wanty Group's Jean Pierre Drucker, who finished in second place on stage two was in the yellow leader's jersey for stage three which was the longest stage of the race at 205kms long and from Eschweiler to Differdange.

Ivan Balykin of Rusvelo, Pit Schlechter of Leopard, Tom Dernies of Wallonie - Bruxelles and Ruben Menendez of Team Differange were the day's escapers and had a 2.40 advantage.

With 27kms left of the stage, Menendez dropped off the pace and caught by the Trek Factory Racing led peloton who now only twenty six seconds back.

Trek Factory's Franck Schleck attacked followed by his brother Andy and Laurent Didier as the riders started on the first ascent of the Col de l'Europe.

The Schleck's attack was quickly neutralised and Danny Teklehaimanot of MTN Qhubeka and Greg Henderson of Lotto took a 23 second lead with nine kilometres to go.

Silvio Herklotz attacked as did Franck Schleck but on the final climb to the top of the Col de l'Europe, the peloton was together.

Stage two winner Matti Breschel, Zaugg, Molard, Lagutin and Rovny took to the front and were twenty five seconds clear with three kilometres left.

Tinkoff-Saxo's Matti Breschel made his move and timed it right to take the victory and the overall lead.
