Katusha's Alexei Tsatevich won the Le Samyn Belgian Classic this afternoon.

The 45th running of this race which is 206kms long and started in Frameries in the west of Belgium.

A strong field which included Team Sky's Geraint Thomas, Berni Eisel and Luke Rowe set off on a foggy day faced five climbs in the space of fifteen kilometres and the peloton was altogether as they went over the Cote de Mainvault (at 48km), Cote de la Folie (55km), Cote des Papins (58km) and Cote de Semenil (61km).

On a 45km section towards Dour where there was five laps of a circuit to complete which included a cobbled climb, Luke Rowe, Sprengers and Van Breussegem took a five minute lead.

With fifty kilometres to go, that was down to three minute, so Luke Rowe attacked.

Thirty kilometres later, his lead was just fifty seconds on the peloton and with twelve kilometres of racing left, Rowe was caught.

British Road Race Champion Ian Stannard and former British Road Race Geraint Thomas joined Lindeman and Konovalovas at the front.

Thomas headed for home with 3kms to go but he was caught inside the final two, leaving the bunch to fight it out and it was Katusha's Alexei Tsatevich who took the win beating Boeckmans, Petit, Kenny De Haes, Bazzana, Sbaragli, Sutton and Haller.
