Copsewood (Coventry) Ladies are no more.

The club which has based at Allard Way and worked its way up to the FA WPL has announced that after moving to Nuneaton Town's Liberty Way stadium in order to facilitate a place in the WPL Northern Division, the club will change its name to Nuneaton Town.

"We needed to move into the northern division, otherwise we would have had to have folded," manager Ryan Conneely is quoted by the Nuneaton Town website as saying.

"The journeys in the southern division were getting too much and we had players that had to stay at my house on Saturday night as there were no trains in time to get them to away games.

"The players were not enjoying playing as the travelling really took a lot of the fun out of the game.

"The Women's FA told us the only way we could move to the Northern Division was to be further north than Coventry City Ladies.

"We were playing in Binley, they are playing in Bedworth, so Nuneaton seemed the obvious choice.

"I spoke to Lee Thorn and he was really helpful, he really liked the idea of a ladies team representing Nuneaton Town.

"The FA have now given the move and name change the green light, so we can now get ready for next season in the Northern Division."
