Racing Club Warwick FC heard on Thursday 21st January that their grant application to the Football Foundation had been successful.

The grant money matches money approved by the District Council Executive in December and means the first phase of improvements at the club can proceed.

Speaking on Thursday evening Chairman Gary Vella said that a bright future for the club had been secured. "A lot of hard work has been put in over the past several months to reach this fantastic point. To satisfy the grant application the club needed to produce a viable business plan and show that the management of the club was in good hands. We are pleased to say all the hard work has paid off and we can begin to rejuvenate the site for football and community alike".

Gary again expressed gratitude to members of the Council for their work adding, 'It cannot be stressed enough our thanks to the Officers of the Council, Chris Elliott the Chief Executive in particular, along with the Executive Members of Warwick District Council and local Councillors Noel Butler and Martyn Ashford. Working alongside Rob Horley and myself along with the whole Racing Committee we have reached a position of strength that will benefit everybody locally. This is at last an opportunity to create new community football facilities to enhance the development of football in the area. This project will help generate wider community benefit  through football, sports and non-sports community activities,  particularly in the areas of health and well-being, education skills and employment, social inclusion and volunteering".
