GMK & The West Terrace Take On Leicester Opposition

Last updated : 16 June 2009 By Jeff Nowill
It can't have escaped the attention of probation officers the country over that Leicester City have escaped their blessed incrustation, and have returned to the upper echelons of footballing elite; aiming to place their high-chair at the table at which we Coventry fans are accustomed to dining.

Not only have their 'elite' team moved forward one whole epoch - and I use said term with fear of being sued for so doing - but the mongrels who follow the team with haphazard limb growth have got all brave and started challenging their betters to a game of Association Football: see link:

It's a day out in the sun, a soirée, a beano, a feast of japery the kind of which won't - nay, simply cannot - be matched, even should the summer last several hundred moons or more. And thus, I urge your attendance.

According to the marketing blurb, there's 'fun rides' - yes, we've all had nights out in Leicester (ahem)...... celebrity guests and..... wait for it..... yes, a bar. What a compendium of joy!

Oh, and there's the ugly spectre of scores of aging gentlefolk, sacrificing the beautiful game of football in the name of charity; making fools of themselves and presenting themselves at targets for ridicule, finger pointing, and perhaps small inoffensive objects you may find about your person.

If you can play on Sunday July 5th - great. I think the teams are pretty well established, but late comers are welcome. Especially if you're Rivaldo.

Of you can't play, but fancy the day out - then by all means participate with some vigour. If you can do neither of the above, then I urge you to consider a charitable donation - again, via the link.

Thanks for reading, please participate; and above all, click the link and consider your conscience. Cheers, and take care one and all.

From GMK

Those 'nice' chaps from Bentley's Roof dot com have set up a four team tournie on Sunday 5th July (Godiva festival weekend - but hey the line-ups' shite this year!), it's them, & GMK, the West Terrace and Foxes Talk playing for the honour, with minimal violence, (well hope fully none actually!), both on and off the pitch, to be the best on the day & to make some money for LOROS, (Leicestershire and Rutland Hospice)..
