Four people were nominated into the Coventry Music Wall Of Fame this afternoon at 2-Tone Village in front of a specially invited audience.

The four were

Pauline Black (plaque Sponsor Ali & Keith Bushnell)

Lead singer of the Selecter, actress, author and broadcaster. Blessed with supreme stage presence and superb vocal skills her best selling autobiography“Black By Design” gives a fascinating insight into what makes Pauline tick.

Lieutenant Pigeon (plaque Sponsor Ginger Simon)

Comprising of Nigel Fletcher, Rob Woodward, Hilda Woodward and Steven Johnson, they became the very first Coventry band to score a number one hit in the UK charts. “Mouldy Old Dough” hit the number one spot for four weeks in 1972. A charmingly original slice of piano driven pop, that won an Ivor Novello Award for its songwriters Nigel Fletcher and Rob Woodward.

Hazel O’Connor (plaque Sponsor Danny & Debbie Gerrard)

Singer and actress and star of the iconic film “Breaking Glass”. Whether she is singing rock, folk, blues or jazz Hazel oozes style with a voice of pure emotion. Her classic composition “Will You” is cited by many to be the ‘ultimate’ romantic song.

Pete Chambers (plaque Sponsor The Specials)

The Coventry Music historian, who was christened "The Eighth Special" by Lynval Golding, is a published author and respected journalist who has been promoting the local music scene for years. Ever the innovator and inspirator, Pete has been involved with a number of projects in the City and came up with the ideas for the Coventry Walk Of Fame and the Coventry Music Wall of Fame.

Pete said, “Well today’s Wall Of fame ceremony was a surprise to say the least when the ceremony ended and Pauline, Hazel and Lieutenant Pigeon got their plaques. Then Brody Swain announced an extra one!!! To say I was surprised is an understatement; I am now a proud inductee on The Coventry Music Wall of Fame. I had actually received the third most nominations (thanks all), but felt a bit weird about it, so left it on the backburner, but everyone else (behind my back) decided it would happen, I knew nothing about it and to be sponsored by the Specials is a real honour. Thanks to everyone, especially my wife Julie for keeping the secret so well”.
