Coventry United have issued a press statement following the news that they will be ground-sharing Coventry Sphinx's Sphinx Drive home from next season.

The statement reads as follows: "Coventry United FC are pleased to announce Coventry Sphinx as our new home for the 2015/16 season. We wish to thank Coventry Sphinx for their courtesy and we wish them well for the remainder of this season and every success for the next season. The cage sadly doesn't meet the criteria for MFL D1 football and if we get promoted the board need to be 100% confident and ready to meet the leagues requirements, allowing Coventry United to get promoted without any issues. I'm sure the last game at the cage will be an emotional occasion for everybody connected with the club, it started here but our journey continues.

We are at the business end of the season and it's looking extremely good at the moment but you can never count your chickens until they hatched. However, the board need to be ready for every eventuality to ensure our team can progress through the leagues without any ground grading issues.

This season started off badly with 2 losses and at that stage we knew that additional investment and changes were critical to give Coventry United the best possible chance of promotion. The board and management work together as one unit with the same winning objective. This is why we find ourselves at the top of the league and with a chance of winning two cup finals.

The board applied simple business logic to ensure every opportunity was explored and every suitable football pitch before confirming coventry Sphinx .

Clearly, it was rightly reported that Coventry United wanted to play its fixtures at the Butts Park Arena next season and after multiple meetings with the Butts management it was deemed as impossible to implement within the strict timing constraints. We have communications channels open and will keep exploring all options with their management team.

Coventry United would like to extend a heart felt thank you to everyone involved in our search for a venue for the 2015/16 season.

Our fans are at the heart of our club. without the fans we are just another football team. with them we are Coventry United."
