Coventry Market team gives Birmingham the blues.

There's no stopping Coventry market at the moment, it would seem everything they touch turns to gold. Not content to be voted Britain's Best market, their five a side football team is going great guns too.

Coventry Market's five a side football team "Coventry Market Movers" are getting quite a name for themselves of late, not content to win their own Coventry knock out cup competition last year. They are now flexing their sporting muscles in Birmingham, and still remain unbeaten. The team are understandably proud of their success, especially as a Coventry team doing so well in the Second City. Below is team Manager Neil Moran's account of that famous victory over the Brummie border.

Football Report by Neil Moran.....

Following the success of their last venture, the market five a side squad accepted the invitation from the Birmingham section of the Chamber of Commerce to enter the Yardley based competition. On a cold and wintry Tuesday evening, the team set off knowing this was going to be a far more difficult proposition than the last competition. We arrived at our destination and the 20 teams were put into 4 groups, the winners of each group competing in the semis, then on to the final. We soon realised this was not the place to be wearing "I love Cov Market" t-shirts! The 2nd game of the group stage was the awkward one but we eventually ran out winners of the game and group, unbeaten in all matches.

On to the semi where the opposition were 5 goals down in a very short time and the result was never in question, finishing 9-0.The final was against the most unlikely group of" lawyers" you are ever likely to come across! We struggled initially, going 2-1 down but the teams character showed in abundance as they overcame the strong arm tactics winning 6-2.

Mention must go to Kathryn, Dale and Maurice for their support in awful conditions, and the team for once again putting on a superb display.
