On 3rd - 5th July 2009, War Memorial Park in Coventry will be hosting the 12th Godiva Festival, a three day event packed full of entertainment for all the family!

Not only does the festival showcase some of the finest local, national and international artists from a multitude of genres, there's also the chance to see the renowned Godiva Carnival Procession, witness some quality performances in the comedy tent, find out more about local history and eco-friendly groups in the region, be creative in the kids tent, experience some of the best acts in street entertainment, comedy and cabaret with the Human Circus in the Paradise Tent, and see a wealth of entertainment in the arena.

The full line up for Godiva Festival 2009 has now been announced!

On Friday 3rd July, Godiva goes, "Back to the 80's", with Go West, Womack and Womack and the Blow Monkeys, rolling back the years. So it's time to dust off those Ra-Ra skirts and leg warmers and celebrate the 80's revival! There will even be spot prizes on the night for the best 80's fancy dress!

Saturday sees Scottish indie rockers Idlewild joined by The Twang, The Eighties Matchbox B-Line Disaster and the newly reformed Toploader. Whilst the festival draws to a close on Sunday evening with performances from Newton Faulkner, The King Blues and The Yeah You's.



The festival will also see performances from folk legends, Meet on the Ledge, as well as mixture of sounds and styles from all over the world including rhythm and blues, Asian strings, global beats, hip hop breaks and traditional African kora music!

This year the award winning Godiva Carnival celebrates its' 10th year since it's re establishing in 2000.

The theme for this year is 'Coventry Greats', created by Imagineer Productions and designed by Vortex Creates.

From industry to art, from engineering to innovation, each section of the carnival will pay homage to some of the great things to come out of Coventry both past and present. Ribbons, clocks, bicycles, cars, musicians, sporting heroes, scientific developments, artists & inventions - will all find themselves represented in carnival this year.
