The ruling Labour Party kept hold of Coventry City Council in the annual Council elections last night.

Labour now has 35 seats with Conservatives 17 whilst the Lib Dems and others had one apiece. Labour took five seats from the Conservatives.

Polling took place at booths all over the City including at Coventry City's Ricoh Arena where there was police and tight security shortly before the polls closed at 10pm.
