City Supporter Sheds His Baggage In Style

Last updated : 05 June 2011 By Kev Monks at 2-Tone Central

Coventry City supporter Anthony Harty launched his new album "Baggage" on Friday night.

A packed 2-Tone Central, which included members of the some of the rich vein of musicians and bands that our great city has produced over the years, were on hand to snap up the eagerly awaited ten track solo project from a man who has played and toured with the likes of the Style Council, The Specials, The Selecter, Madness, Bronski Beat, Big Country, Billy Bragg, INXS, Squeeze, Badfinger, T'Pau, Was Not Was, Voice Of The Beehive, Bon Jovi, The Primitives, Lee Scratch Perry to name but a few.

Baggage is an homage from Harty, who can be found in the CT Stand at the Ricoh Arena and at some away matches when his gigging sechedule permits, to little known tracks from the stylings of Neil Finn, Cheap Trick, Joe Jackson, Thin Lizzy and Badfinger.

A single "Name Of The Game" will also be released and if the reaction to the version of the Badfinger song performed at 2-Tone Central at the launch which also included an appearance from original band member Bob Jackson on piano, was anything to go buy, then buyers of this compact disc or download which will shortly be available on ITunes are in for a treat.

Harty's rendition of this and a number of tracks which finished with a round up of Style Council hits with a collective of musicians that included Specials Bassist Horace Panter, had those in attendance demanding for more from a night that lived up to its billing as a night to remember.
