AEI Rugby are through to the Coventry Charity Football Cup Final on May 12th after beating Folly Lane 2-1 in the Semi-Final at Sphinx Drive.

Folly Lane were the first to attack with Andre Yerou planting a header onto the bar in the fourth minute and four minutes later, Yerou raced through and fed Daniel Pidgeon who fired wide.

Scott Furlong's side attacked down the left in the 12th minute and Pidgeon"s cross had to be headed off the line by Matthew Izzard.

Rugby started to get back into the game and in the 20th minute, they had Jimmy Smith hit the bar with a header.

Fourteen minutes later, AEI went ahead when Jimmy Smith raced through and fired into the net.

Ashley Piper rattled AEI Rugby's bar in the 37th minute as Folly Lane started to have more of the play.

On the hour mark, Steve Maddox had a shot from 25 yards which was saved. Scott Furlong's side attacked again and won a corner which was fumbled by Gavin Campbell and cleared off the line and eventually away for another corner. When that came in, there was James Halton to send a ferocious volley into the net and draw Folly Lane level.

Rugby made changes after Daniel Pidgeon had fired wide as the game looked to be going to extra time.

However, with two minutes to go, AEI Rugby were awarded a free kick some twenty yards out for a handball and Jimmy Smith was able to meet the kick and bundle the ball home.

The Folly Lane players were fuming and this led to Steve Madill being sent off for a second bookable offence in the final minute of a game which had been an entertaining affair

AEI Rugby will now meet Woodlands WMC in the final on May 12th.
