HEDNESFORD TOWN YOUTH 3-4 COVENTRY SPHINX YOUTH
Coventry Sphinx put in an excellent team performance to win at Hednesford Town Youth.
In a frenetic first half, Sphinx's worrying habit of conceding early goals continued. This time, it was in the fifth minute when Adam Beattie rounded the keeper.

Dave Freeman levelled from a corner in the 25th minute and less than two minutes later, a good right footed finish from Danny Loney put Sphinx ahead.

But in the 29th minute, Beattie was allowed space and got through to score.

Both sides had given as good as they got on a still night at Keys Park and in the last minute before the interval, Paul Green and Richard Dunleavy were sent off for a bit of handbags.

The second half belonged to Sphinx. Andrew Moran worked well in the midfield of a Sphinx side who chased and wanted every ball.

Dave Freeman added his second of the night in the 63rd minute when he turned his man and drove home inside the area from a Gaffney ball.

With fifteen minutes left, a ball from Craig Goodbody eventually played in Danny Loney to get in a back header from seven yards which went into the net.

Substitute Drew Aike pulled one back in stoppage time but Sphinx were too good and went back down the M6 with a victory.

Next Monday, Sphinx Youth travel to Redditch United for a re-arranged League Cup tie.
